Very cool ..... so .... is this a running test mule or just one for demo purposes ?

I am curious to hear more about this design after running on a test bench, the final hp/torque figures, redline, any antivibrational (counterbalancing) efforts, etc.

Also really hoping IAV designed this so it can be easily be punched out to a larger displacement for future enhancements .... would love to see this cranking out 120 hp or so in a "sport" model option down the road.

And maybe another future fairly easy option would be the ability to handle e85. Then, we could really reduce the amount of imported oil needed.

All in all, very nice looking little motor.

Can't wait - Go Elio !

Seem to be randomly posted on the "Recent Posts by Others on Elio Motors See All" section. Seems odd Elio has not posted any on there site, or FB yet.

Got this reply to my "where are the fuel injectors" question:

Hi Jay! The IAV design uses '"port injection" Direct injection would need a very high pressure fuel pump (over 200.00 ) and also would have to be driven somewhere (crank, etc) Port injection worked better into our need for high reliability and low cost!

Nice, simple design.

Can I assume it has hydraulic lifters, or will I need to check valve clearance? I can't imagine "car" folks wanting to have to check valve clearance, but a very high revving 3-cylinder would likely not have lifters....
